Oil burner keeps tripping the lockout button?
The lockout button is the red one on the box of your oil burner itself. If your oil heating stops working, try pressing this button first. If the burner begins to make noise and fire up, then that's your problem solved.
But if the system trips again, then there is definitely a fault and you should arrange for one of our engineers to call and check it out. If your burner fires up for a short time, then trips out again, don't keep resetting it and ignore the problem, as it could cause more damage to the system, and result in a costly repair job.
The trip switch is there for safety reasons. When it thinks there is a problem with the system, it shuts the burner down. The main reasons for this happening is that the photo cell sensor is faulty, or if there's no flame present.
No flame being present also indicates that you may have ran out of oil. To check this, most oil tanks have a level indicator fitted to the side. If the level is quite low, or there's no level, you'll need to order more oil.

If there's no level indicator fitted to your tank, you must use a dipstick to measure the amount of oil in your tank. To avoid running out in future, you could have an oil watchman device fitted on your tank.
